Film Screenings - Public Performance Licenses Policy

Reason for Policy

Campus events sometimes involve film screenings. While the University encourages the use of such film screenings when they benefit the event, the University is also committed to complying with United States copyright law.

Policy Statement

Anyone organizing an event on campus which includes a film screening or screenings must purchase appropriate public performance licenses (PPR) from the Colgate University Library prior to the film screening or screenings. Check with the Colgate Library first as in some instances the Library may already provide PPR at no additional cost.

Scope

This policy applies to all film screenings on campus and applies to all Colgate University faculty, staff, and students
