On-Demand Shuttle

The University's On-Demand Shuttle service offers the Colgate community and campus visitors easy and safe transport to and from Syracuse and Utica transportation hubs. It also offers students a cost-effective way for small groups to book trips to local/regional destinations.

Getting to Campus

Regularly scheduled commercial flights are available from Syracuse, the nearest major airport. Hamilton’s airport, just north of campus, is used by private planes.

Amtrak service to New York City, Boston, Chicago, and other major cities is available at the Utica station.

Utica Amtrak

There are bus stations in Utica, Syracuse, and Binghamton, with services including Greyhound and Trailways (check company websites for terminals in specific cities).

In addition, Megabus offers transportation to Port Authority in New York City on Fridays and Sundays.

  • Sundays 12:30 p.m.: Leaving for Colgate from NYC

Colgate provides a free shuttle service around Hamilton and the university campus, open to students and the public.


Syracuse Destiny USA Mall Shuttles

Free Shuttles to Destiny USA Mall will depart on Saturdays at noon and 3 p.m. (returning to campus at 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Face coverings are required. Questions? Contact First Transit

EV Charging Station

There is a Level 2 ChargePoint station for electric vehicles, located on Lally Lane on campus.

Bus Transportation for Breaks


Megabus offers trips from campus to Port Authority in New York City for academic breaks. 

Fall 2021 Mid-Term Break

  • Friday, October 8, 2:20 p.m.: Leaving for NYC from Colgate
  • Tuesday, October 12, 2:00 p.m.: Leaving for Colgate from NYC


My Bus Home

My Bus Home, a provider of motor coach service to various areas in the mid-Atlantic and New England regions, offers transportation for each of Colgate’s 2021–2022 academic breaks. 

Private, fully insured motor coaches with restrooms and Wi-Fi will pick up students on Lally Lane in front of the James C. Colgate Student Union. Pricing per trip depends on the destination and the number of students who register. A 1-way fare is half the price of a round trip. Capacity is 50 students per coach; minimum of 30 riders required per trip.
