Provost and Dean of the Faculty Announcements

We have reached the end of another academic year. It is a time of reflection, as we take stock of the year behind us all, and a time of reorientation, as students leave campus (some for the last time), faculty (in many cases, with their students) turn to research, and staff to assessing the past year and gearing up for the one that lies ahead.

I am honored to announce that, at their meeting on May 3, 2025, the Board of Trustees formally and enthusiastically approved two resolutions: that the faculty members listed immediately below be granted continuous tenure and be promoted to the rank of associate professor, and that the associate professor in the following list be promoted to full professor.

As the spring of 2025 draws to a close, I write to remind you of aspects of our academic regulations that are particularly pertinent at the end of each semester.

It is time to prepare for the spring 2025 collection of electronic SET forms. SET form administration will take place from April 21 through May 2, 2025.

I write with the sad news that Deborah Knuth Klenck, Professor of English Emerita, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 72.

I am deeply saddened to report that Carolina Castilla, Richard M. Kessler Professor of Economic Studies, passed away on Saturday, April 12, at the age of 47 following a short battle with an aggressive cancer.

We are writing about the final exam period, end-of-semester assignments, and self-scheduled exams.

With sadness, we share the passing of Charles “Charlie” Naef, Associate Professor of Political Science, who passed away at the age of 94, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
