Ciccone Commons brings students and professors together outside the classroom to build stronger relationships, and to build a strong sense of community among student residents. Ciccone Commons is a place where residents get to know their professors as real people, and their peers as friends.

Curtis Hall

Curtis Hall features mostly traditional residence hall double bedrooms, with the exception of a small number of suites for sophomores. Every floor has a lounge or common space, and laundry machines are located in the basement. Curtis Hall's ground floor is also home to Haven. The first floor of Curtis has a small kitchen with scheduled open hours available for students to use and shared by all the residents of the building.

Drake Hall

Drake Hall features a variety of room types, though most are traditional residence hall doubles. There are a small number of suites available to sophomores in which there are single and double rooms. Every floor has a lounge or common space, and laundry machines are located in the basement. There is a shared kitchen on the first floor of the building with scheduled open hours. The Office of Residential Life is also located in Drake Hall, accessible via a separate entrance.

The Induction Ceremony and Ice Cream Social aimed to welcome students to Ciccone Commons for the beginning of the semester and created a sense of community and pride among members of the Commons.

Diane Ciccone’s birthday parties have been our largest annual events in the last few years. This year, students got to meet Diane Ciccone and her husband, Daryl, in person. Attendees included not only current Ciccone Commons students but also our former members and students from the other commons gathered at the Curtis-Drake lawn to celebrate Diane’s birthday.

Participating in the Day of Service, organized by COVE, was part of our efforts to engage more with community service, which is one of Diane Ciccone’s hopes for the Ciccone Commons.

The Faculty Dinner Series was our signature intellectual engagement programming. The dinners engaged students intellectually outside of the classroom and allowed them to get to know great Faculty members who are affiliated with our commons.

Beagles and Bagels was a great event for students who missed their dogs at home. It was also a nice way to introduce the Recreation Room at the basement of Drake Hall.

Commons Cup

Each year, the four commons compete for the glory of winning the Commons Cup. Each commons accumulates points by having commons members participate in events within five categories: Intellectual Curiosity, Arts & Culture, Environment & Sustainability, Recreation & Wellness, and Community Engagement.

As part of the project of integrating students' living and learning experiences, each year, the Commons plays host to a number of FSEM classes in its residential buildings.
