These student volunteers who have studied off campus and abroad are a great source of information for those planning their own experiences.
Peer Advisors
We recommend that students initially start by meeting with a Peer Advisor, a great way for students to get general information about studying off campus from a student who recently went abroad. Throughout the academic year, there will be available peer advisors who are able to provide basic information about options and processes, or to answer quick questions about the application process.
Peer Advisor Appointments
Peer Advising is available by appointment only. Please check the Peer Advisor's availability by clicking on their name below, then schedule an appointment.
After meeting with a peer advisor, we encourage students to reach out to an Off-Campus Study program manager who can answer specific questions regarding programs and applications.
Hi! My name is Arnab Hait, and I am a senior majoring in Economics and International Relations. In
the fall of 2022, I studied abroad in Switzerland with the Geneva International Relations Study
Group. My favorite part of my experience abroad was the opportunity to meet and network with
professionals in different policy-making industries and also with other students at the Graduate
Institute of International and Development Studies. As a study group we traveled in different
European countries, which was an incredible cultural experience. The Geneva study group is
unique because it also accords an opportunity to intern in an international organization and learn
by working right at the center of global policy-making. I encourage every student to take
advantage of the many programs offered by OCS and use it as an opportunity to grow.

Hi! I'm Molly Hughes (she/her), a member of the class of 2025. I am a double major in Chinese and East Asian Studies and studied abroad in Taiwan during the spring of 2023. During my time abroad I was excited to apply what I learned in the classroom to daily life. From traveling across Taiwan, to learning about indigenous cultures, to simply enjoying campus life, these experiences allowed me to improve my language skills while enjoying all Taiwan has to offer. Studying abroad was a transformative journey and one of the best decisions I've ever made. I can't express enough how enriching the experience was, and I hope to inspire fellow Colgate students to seize the myriad opportunities OCS provides!

Hello! My name is Sophie Thompson (she/her), and I am a member of the class of 2023 majoring in International Relations and Geography. In the Spring of 2022, I studied abroad in Copenhagen-DIS through the approved programs that Colgate has to offer. My favorite part about this experience was getting to learn in a new environment. By taking classes such as Danish I was able to learn about a new culture, while also experiencing everyday life in a new country. With class activities such as bike tours, visiting museums, and travel excursions to different parts of Denmark and Europe I was exposed to many different ways of life. My abroad experience is one of my favorite things I was able to do in college and I hope to encourage as many Colgate students as I can to take advantage of this opportunity!

Hi! My name is Mia Stagner and I am a member of the class of 2024. I am a Political Science major with a minor in English, and I am also on the Pre-Law track. In the fall of 2022 I studied abroad with the Colgate Geneva Study Group and interned with the International Organization for Migration. During my time, I learned a lot about international institutions and the role they play in the international system through our classes and group trips to various organizations. I was also able to grow in my conversational French skills as well. Overall, studying abroad allowed me to grow both personally and academically. It was the best choice I could have made, and I had a wonderful time with my group! I am excited to share my passion and knowledge to others looking for a similar opportunity off-campus!
