About Department

Colgate’s Africana, Latin, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) Cultural Center serves as a learning place, social space, and focal point where Colgate students, faculty, and staff gather to learn about multicultural heritages, struggles, and accomplishments.

ALANA supports and engages all members of the Colgate community interested in exploring issues of inclusiveness and the intersection of race and other social identities.

Esther Rosbrook has a business degree from the University of Indonesia and graduated from the State University College at Buffalo with a master of science degree in education. She earned her Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University. Prior to coming to Colgate, Esther has about twenty years of experience working for international and multinational corporations in the areas of international relations, finance, employee development, and marketing communication. Before returning to the ALANA Cultural Center, she was part of Colgate's residential life team, worked in another position within ALANA Cultural Center for three years, and was a member of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures staff for one year. In addition, she advises twenty multicultural student organizations on campus.
