In a rapidly globalizing world, the economics curriculum at Colgate fosters students’ appreciation of differences in culture, language, currency, and more through opportunities to study off campus and abroad.
Semester Study Groups
All Colgate study groups are led by a Colgate faculty member. The study groups are specially designed to maximize students’ experiences when studying abroad, while also maintaining high academic standards. All credits earned while studying with a Colgate off-campus study group earn Colgate course credit.
London Economics Study Group
Colgate students may participate in any of Colgate’s study groups; however, the economics department specifically sponsors an annual study group in London tailored to the economics major.
Xiamen University Exchange Program in Economics:
Colgate students can participate in a one-semester exchange program at Xiamen University in China. Students will take classes in English and can take up to three economics electives towards their economics major or minor.
Internship Abroad
In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum and compelling experiences in London and surrounding areas, students on the London Economics Study Group will participate in an internship arranged with a London bank, business, law firm, nonprofit, or government agency during the second half of the semester abroad.
It is an incredible opportunity for students to build real-world experience and network in one of the most significant economic centers of the global economy.
More Off-Campus Study Opportunities
In addition to the London Economics Study Group, economics students have the following options and opportunities for learning beyond the campus.
