Colgate’s English and creative writing department study group to London focuses on British literature in London, where students will be immersed in the history and culture of one of the world’s greatest cities.

On the London English study group, students spend a full semester living and learning in England. The group is accompanied by a Colgate faculty director who teaches part of the students’ course load.

Italy, Venice

Colgate’s study group to Venice, Italy focuses on the Italy’s cultural heritage and in its position within the world of modern culture.

Overview

On the Venice study group, students spend a full semester living and learning in Italy. The group is accompanied by a Colgate faculty director who teaches part of the students’ course load.

The study group’s operations are embedded with the University of Venice, giving participants the opportunity to live and study with Italian students, as well as with other international students at the university.

Washington, DC

Colgate’s study group to Washington, D.C., combines rigorous academic analysis with a total immersion in Washington political life.

Overview

Begun in 1935, the Washington Study Group is the oldest of Colgate's study groups and the first program of its kind in Washington, D.C. Many of its graduates establish lifelong connections in Washington and return to Washington after graduation to build successful careers in national government and politics.

Germany, Freiburg

Colgate’s study group to Freiburg focuses on German culture and language.

Overview

The Freiburg Study Group provides students with first-hand experience of German Culture and provides an opportunity to develop and enhance language skills through immersion in a German-speaking environment while also pursuing academic study at the internationally-renowned Albert-Ludwigs-Universität.
