Leadership

Colgate’s leadership provides a strategic vision for the University with the input of faculty and staff members, the student body, alumni, and other members of the extended Colgate community.

Benton Hall

Colgate teaches its students to identify objectives, develop a plan, and work diligently to achieve success. The university followed its own advice when it built Benton Hall.

Academic Buildings

Colgate’s academic buildings, facilities and state-of-the-art classrooms support the academic and research needs of students and faculty.

Lathrop Hall

Built in 1905, Lathrop Hall, the centerpiece of the Academic Quad, underwent a $9.6 million renovation in 2013. The renovation vastly improved classroom spaces, and created flexible multipurpose rooms for innovative teaching and extracurricular activities.

Lathrop Hall houses the following departments, divisions and centers:

Campus & Facilities

Carefully preserved architecture, immaculate grounds, and a hillside setting, rank Colgate’s campus among the most beautiful in the nation.

Colgate is composed of 88 buildings, each designed to complement each other and build a singular architectural language, with construction dates ranging from 1827 to 2019. It sits on nearly 600 acres of land, nestled on a hillside at the northern edge of the Allegheny Plateau, and is home to sugar maples, northern red oaks, and Taylor Lake.

Traditions

From the moment you arrive in Hamilton, you’ll see why the Colgate experience will stay with you far beyond your time on the hill. It’s here that you’ll have everyday moments — and momentous occasions — that will make you realize why your four years on this campus are such an integral part of your life's journey.

Facilities

The department conducts studies of East Asian languages and literatures in the well-equipped study spaces of Lawrence Hall. These spaces enhance the study of this fascinating discipline and its cultural assets.
