Colgate University has numerous programs in place to address food insecurity across campus and to help supplement items that may not be available through traditional meal assistance and financial aid. These programs are free to all students as Colgate works to break the stigma associated with scarcity and hunger.

Food Pantries

Students can visit Food Pantries to pick up food and toiletries. Conveniently located at three campus locations, the pantries offer these items to students who do not have meals plans, those who need a snack during the day or anyone who needs to stock up on items before the weekend. Offered through grant funding since 2022, this service is completely free and confidential.

Available items may include:

  • Canned goods
  • Snack items
  • Instant meals
  • Toiletries
  • Fresh produce from the community garden (during the fall)
  • Nutrition tips
  • Recipes

Want to Pay It Forward?

You can help other Colgate students by donating unused meals and assisting with food insecurity on campus.

How to help:

  • Click on "Donate a Meal" in the GET app.
    • This is located at the bottom of the screen - just below recent transactions.
  • On the Donate Meals page, select either your guest meals (for Premier plans) or a meal (for Block plan); enter the number of meals you wish to donate and then click "Donate."
    • You will see a record of the donation in your recent transactions, and the meals will be held in a discretionary account to be distributed to students who do not have meals due to unforeseen or challenging circumstances.
