LGBTQ+ Spaces

The Office of LGBTQ+ Initiatives is located at the Center for Women’s Studies. The office shares a space with the women’s studies and LGBTQ studies programs and features a library, cozy lounge, kitchen, and classroom. Everyone is welcome.

Colgate PRIDE

The mission of the LGBTQ+ Pride Employee Resource Group is to promote an inclusive community for lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender and queer employees. The group works to support and retain LGBTQ+ identified employees. The group serves as a visible, accessible resource for LGBTQ+ identified employees (staff and faculty) and their allies and provides LGBTQ+ focused networking, educational, and social opportunities for the Colgate community. The Pride ERG is open to all currently-employed members of Colgate's faculty and staff.

Using and Respecting Names and Personal Gender Pronouns

How we address and refer to each other directly affects our sense of belonging and our goals of being inclusive and valuing our diverse and intersecting identities on this campus.

As a community, we want to ensure that we respect and use the names and personal gender pronouns preferred and chosen by our peers, friends, and colleagues. Below is some useful information on legal names, preferred names, and personal gender pronouns, and how to make them known to the campus community.
