Colgate applicants interested in theater and dance may choose to submit a portfolio of creative work to supplement their applications.
Why Submit?
Some applicants elect to submit a portfolio to share their high school achievements with Colgate’s theater and dance faculty to demonstrate their interest in continued engagement with the performing arts while at Colgate. Submitting a portfolio is not a requirement and does not constitute a commitment to major in theater.
How to Submit Online
Applicants may submit a portfolio via the Colgate Slideroom Portal.
Portfolios may include any or all of the following materials:
• Up to 15 minutes of video of a theater or dance performance
• A 5-page writing sample of a play script, screenplay, or critical essay on any aspect of theater or dance
• Up to 5 drawings or recordings of scenic, costume, lighting, sound, or video design for a theater or dance production
Please clearly label each item in the portfolio with the title, date, and a brief explanation of the applicant’s role in the work (e.g., “Video excerpt from a high school production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, April 2022, performing the role of Puck”).
