Community Service

Regional leaders in business, economic development, education, and non-profit agencies gathered for the Collaboration, Cooperation and Community for Commerce (4C) conference, Friday, Oct. 25. 

Following annual tradition, the Max A. Shacknai Center for Volunteerism, Outreach, and Education (COVE) organized a 9/11 Afternoon of Service. On Friday, Sept. 6, more than 70 student volunteers worked with eight nonprofits in Hamilton and neighboring towns to help local farms, promote environmental conservation, maintain trails, and preserve the Chenango Canal among other activities.

This year, Colgate’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration included two weeks of robust programming, Jan. 21–Feb. 1, centered on the theme “Thriving in the Current Times.”

In May, Colgate community members traveled to Puerto Rico for a week devoted to hurricane relief. The group performed service work at Plenitud, a non-profit educational farm and learning center located in the mountains of western Puerto Rico near a town called Las Marias.

Colgate’s 13 Days of Green celebration included panel discussions, a Locavore Dinner, a pop-up thrift shop, and a day of service.
