Dear Colgate Community,
I know I have already mentioned the glories of the HAT dashboard. It gives us a clear snapshot of the data that the EOC and Task Force on Reopening use to help form the guidance that promotes community health. But, at the top of the dashboard, there’s a dropdown list of dates. Using that function, you can go back in time and watch our fall semester unfold.
There was a moment during our 14-day arrival quarantine when we identified dozens of positive COVID-19 cases. By keeping close contacts to a minimum and adhering to our Gates, we flattened the curve. The reward has been the ability to study together and plan for an in-person spring semester. In this environment, we have proven that conducting tests, wearing masks, maintaining distance, and avoiding large gatherings all help to prevent the spread of the virus.

With Halloween coming up and weeks to go before returning to remote instruction, this is no time to take a victory lap. But it is a good moment to remind ourselves that we have endured some spooky days together. It has all been for a very good reason. Thank you so much. Keep it up.
