Faculty Research Retreats and Application Support Group

Back to Provost and Dean of the Faculty Announcements

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

The Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty will be sponsoring Faculty Research Retreats for the 2022–23 academic year. These retreats provide a quiet space to focus on research and writing. Retreats will be held from 1:15 to 5 p.m. in 314 Lathrop and will take place every Friday that classes are held, beginning this week.

Faculty who would like lunch prior to the weekly retreat can retrieve vouchers redeemable at Frank Dining Hall or the Coop from the Faculty Lounge (room 209) on the second floor of Lathrop Hall. Snacks for the retreat and lunch vouchers are in the lounge on the bottom kitchen drawer.

Please sign up to ensure we have enough snacks available. In the event that you haven't signed up but would like to try out a retreat, do come by. If you find yourself being productive in that setting and want to come back, simply add your name to the sign-up sheet for future sessions. Faculty attending retreats are invited to stay for as long as suits them: by signing up you are not committing to being there all afternoon.

Concurrent with the Faculty Research Retreats, the PDoF will also sponsor an Application Support Group for visiting faculty who are applying to permanent positions. Beginning on Friday, September 15, this new program will provide visitors with a designated space from 1:15 to 5:00 p.m. in 107 Lathrop to share feedback and work collaboratively on job applications. Participants are welcome to enjoy lunch vouchers and snacks by following the instructions above.

Sign up for Faculty Research Retreats and/or the Application Support Group.

Please contact Cassidy Rodman (crodman@colgate.edu) with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Lesleigh Cushing, Provost and Dean of the Faculty
