On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Professor Ramírez Velázquez organized a cultural trip to Syracuse with students from his SPAN 361B, 354, and 457 classes, funded by the Beyond Colgate program. During the visit, students toured the temporary exhibition Joiri Minaya: Unseeing the Tropics, featuring work by the New York-based Dominican artist, at the Syracuse University Art Museum. The tour was led by the exhibition’s curator, Cristina E. Pardo Porto, who provided insightful commentary on the artwork. After the museum visit, students gathered for a Hispanic meal at a local Mexican restaurant in Cicero.
