At an event in Chicago with alumni and friends, President Brian W. Casey announced Colgate’s commitment to establish a nonpartisan program for studying and practicing open inquiry, dialogue, and debate.

Colgate University is moving ahead with a number of renovation and new construction projects that target improvements to the physical campus.

Colgate University will mark the beginning phases of the Lower Campus Initiative under the Third-Century Plan this summer with construction and restoration projects at 66 and 70 Broad Street.

Trustee emeritus Robert Fox ’59, GP’23,’25 has given $10 million to build Fox Hall at Colgate University, the first residence hall of the University’s fifth Residential Commons. The gift was acknowledged by the Board of Trustees during its fall meeting, Sept. 30–Oct. 1.

Changes to Colgate’s Student Health Services this academic year will increase clinical care availability on campus while also bolstering sports-medicine support for Division I athletes, student club teams, and intramurals. 

A new Longyear Museum of Anthropology exhibit displays the work of more than 30 crafters from across campus and the community who have created “tempestries” to highlight the yearly temperature changes for significant dates in Colgate’s history.

This academic year marks the 10th anniversary of Ciccone Commons, the first Residential Commons established at Colgate University. Since its launch in 2015, the program has grown to four communities that gather students with similar interests and passions to extend learning beyond the classroom.

The project scales down the vast climate change conversation and builds community by representing temperature data in fiber art.

This year’s fellows are Class of 2025 graduates Paul Schulze, Jinting Guo, and Shanely Perez, along with Senior Residential Fellow Marissa Bordonaro ’24.

Isla Globus-Harris, assistant professor of economics, will assume the role of faculty co-director for Dart Colegrove Commons, and Title IX Coordinator Amy Gordon will step in as staff co-director for Brown Commons.
