On behalf of the Task Force on Reopening the Colgate Campus, we write to provide an update on our work since our last message on July 22.

Colgate has revised its policies and processes for responding to complaints of harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence.

We write to provide an update on Colgate’s campuswide review of building ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Through the steps we will take together, we can comply with New York State law and increase, collectively, our chances for health and safety.

I write to update the Colgate community on new and continuing steps we are taking in service of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Colgate.

A short-time ago, the Patriot League released an announcement of its decision to suspend all championship and non-championship competitions for the fall season.

A group of presidents belonging to the Patriot League have announced their opposition to the federal government’s new rules restricting access and opportunities for international students attending colleges and universities in the United States. 

On Monday, July 6, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued new guidance that prohibits international students from returning to or remaining in the United States this fall if the universities they attend hold courses entirely online. This follows new, recently announced restrictions on international work visas. These actions threaten the work, safety, and wellbeing of many members of our community.

We are pleased to announce that the annual Colgate July 4 fireworks display will be held this year in a drive-in format.
