Staying in Touch

Although most of the University's day-to-day communications go directly to students, Colgate also provides regular communications to families, such as newsletters, announcements, notable operational changes at the University, emergency communications, and more.

Quarterly Parent and Family Newsletters

The Parent and Family Newsletter, sent in October, December, March, and July, is emailed directly to parents and guardians of enrolled Colgate students throughout the academic year and includes information about resources, events, and important dates. If you’d like to sign up for these newsletters or if there has been a change to your contact information, please fill out the Parent or Guardian Contact Information form.

Emergency Contact Information

All students are required to provide emergency contact information for at least one individual who should be notified in the event of an emergency specifically impacting the student (e.g., medical emergency). Students may provide multiple emergency contacts.

Students can update their emergency contact information via the Colgate Portal. Students will be required once per year to review and confirm or update their emergency contact information.

Parent and Family Update Blog

The Parent and Family Update blog contains helpful tips and information about resources designed to support students.

Academic Records: Infoshare

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prevents the University from disclosing information about students’ academic records without the consent of the student.

The Infoshare platform allows students to provide and manage consent for sharing the following academic records with trusted “designees” such as parents and guardians:

  • Academic transcript (unofficial)
  • Class schedule
  • Final grades
  • Holds (financial and academic)
  • Registration status
