Talk about following in some footsteps. Colgate’s Dan Hunt matched his mentor Dick Biddle here Saturday when the Raiders outlasted Lehigh 49–42 to clinch the Patriot League championship. Hunt and Biddle both captured Patriot League titles for Colgate in just their second seasons as head coach.

Colgate student-athletes improved by one position to third nationally in the latest NCAA Division I Graduation Success Rate release. The Raiders for the fourth straight year are at 98 percent, placing Colgate alongside peer schools Columbia, Davidson, Duke, Harvard, Holy Cross, Loyola-Chicago, Notre Dame, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale.

Colgate senior hockey defenseman Spiro Goulakos has been selected as one of 20 candidates for the 2014-15 Senior Class Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. Colgate recently released a practice protocol designed to limit head injuries in sports. Expanding on the idea, athletics director Victoria Chun ’91 MA ’94 wrote an op-ed called “There Is No Neat Solution For Head Injuries in Sport” for the Huffington Post.
