If you are graduating in Spring 2023, this checklist is your place to complete important advance to-dos in preparation for the ceremony and the weekend’s activities.
Deadlines as well as mandatory and optional items are identified.
Submitting the following information is vital for ensuring your ability to fully participate in the May 21 ceremony.
Caps, gowns, and tassels will be provided to graduates at no cost.
You must order your own on the Oak Hall website. This is the only way to obtain a cap and gown.
Pick up will be at the Colgate Bookstore:
Graduates are responsible for reserving up to five guest tickets, in case inclement weather forces the ceremony indoors, where seating will be limited. (The ceremony will be livestreamed as well.)
Let us know if any of your guests will have accessibility needs for the ceremony.
Help to limit food waste; be as accurate as possible with your Friday Commencement Dinner reservation.
The Registrar's Office will send students personalized links to provide the phonetic spelling and a recording of their name for the commencement ceremony.
On March 15, you will receive an email from the Registrar confirming your legal name for your diploma and the printed ceremony program. Your name will be printed as indicated in that email if you do not submit a correction by March 31.

Colgate asks all graduating seniors to complete a survey about their experience. You will receive an email with a unique link to your survey in April. Your input is important, and you will need to complete the survey in order to receive your cap and gown.

These optional to-do items have different deadlines, so keep an eye on them!
Official 2023 ceremony photos will be provided by Island Photography. Representatives will be capturing each senior’s “moment” as they enter and exit the stage.
Graduating students can register for a photo link in advance. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase.
Up to six family members can also register to get a photo link through this separate form.
Within 48–72 hours after the ceremony, you will be emailed a unique link to view or order your images from your celebration.
