As guest editor for the latest issue of Symposium (Syracuse University), Professor Chrystian Zegarra leads a critical examination of how avant-garde Latin American literature integrated visual elements from cinema. This special issue (October–December, 2025) explores how cinema and literature gave Latin American writers new ways to feel and experience freedom. They challenged the conservative order of early 20th-century Latin America and developed new aesthetic foundations for modern Spanish-language literature.
