Spearheaded by Professor Yukari Hirata, the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures completed the renovation of an authentic Japanese tea room in the Japan Center in Lawrence Hall.

The Japanese Speech contest celebrated its 13th year this April with a lineup of 13 competing speakers and a variety of Japanese food and performances.

Some students adjust to college easily and naturally, while others struggle and even falter. A new online non-credit “course,” comprised of 13 short videos made by Colgate faculty, is designed to minimize the mystery about what it takes to succeed. The series also includes many student-produced video responses featuring current students and alumni.

It was billed as a humanities colloquium, but there was a whole lot of science going on.
