Smile, Hamilton, N.Y.! Or more specifically, keep smiling, because you’ve just been named one of America’s most friendly towns by Forbes magazine. The beautiful home of Colgate University was ranked No. 11 in a story on Forbes.com. Here is what the article had to say about Hamilton:

Update: Here is a chart tracing the votes in the competition over time. The final count for Colgate, whose progress is represented in blue, was over 11,000 votes. This was an impressive accomplishment for the Colgate community, as the school in second place finished with just over 4,000 votes.

Members of Colgate’s Delta Tau chapter of Gamma Phi Beta have earned one of the most prestigious honors their national organization awards, The Order of 1874, recognizing their scholastic and philanthropic achievements.

Colgate’s record-breaking Passion for the Climb fundraising campaign put the university in the national spotlight. It also caught the attention of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), one of America’s largest nonprofit educational associations.

Colgate wide receiver Chris Looney capped an amazing senior season by being named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Football Team. Looney was selected for first-team honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It is Colgate’s first Academic All-America recipient since John Frieser in 2003.
