HAMILTON, N.Y.  – Jon Cook (Oneonta, NY/St. John’s) returned home Wednesday and after scoring the game-winning goal against Oneonta St. he may not want to return to Hamilton.

Cook’s 4th goal of the season at 75:49 gave Colgate the 1-0 victory and snapped its three game losing streak.

The goal came when Peter Bourquin (Avon, CT/Avon) sent a corner to Reed Grimes (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) who sent a through ball to Cook who put the ball in the back of the net.

Colgate got a great effort on defense thanks to a new formation.  ‘We played very well in the back using the flat back four formation, we forced Oneonta in to offsides seven times in the first half and Will Martin did a nice job at keeper as well,’ said assistant coach Chip Warner.

Will Martin (Excelsior, MN/Breck) made four saves in net and recorded his second shut out of the season.

Colgate was outshot 9-7 and corner kicks were even at four.

Colgate now 3-4-2 jumps back into conference play this Saturday when they host undefeated Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
