Clarkson Defeats Men’s Hockey 2-1 in Overtime in College Hockey Showcase At Corel Centre

OTTAWAJeff Genovy scored the game winning goal at 4:17 in overtime to lift the Clarkson men’s hockey team to a 2-1 overtime win over Colgate Saturday afternoon at the Corel Centre in the first annual College Hockey Showcase.

Genovy rebounded a shot by Rob McFeeters and beat Colgate goaltender David Cann stick side.

Raider Adam Mitchell tied the score at one apiece when he jammed the puck through the legs of Clarkson goaltender Dustin Traylen at 13:46 of the third period. Joey Mormina and Ryan Smyth assisted on the goal.

Clarkson got on the board at 4:15 of the third period on a goal by Matt Syroczynski.

The two teams played through scoreless first and second periods with Cann making 10 saves in the first period and three saves in the second while Traylen stopped five shots each period.

Clarkson outshot the Raiders 29-15.
