Army Defeats Colgate In Men’s Basketball For The Second Time This Season.

Hamilton, NY — Sean O’Keefe scored 15 points to lead Army to a 68-63 win over Colgate Saturday in a Patriot League game.

 

Army (6-16 overall, 3-7 Patriot League) snaps a 16-game losing streak on Colgate’s home floor dating back to the 1976-77 season.  Colgate (11-12 overall, 3-7 PL) drops its second straight league game.

 

Also in double figures for Army were Bill Mohr with three and Josh Wilson with 12.  Colgate’s Mark Linebaugh led all scorers with 21 points, while Kendall Chones added 12 for the Raiders.

 

Army shot 56 percent from the field making 22-of-39 shots, while finished at 43 percent after shooting only 35 percent in the first half.

The Cadets scored the first five points and never looked back as they lead the entire game.  They led by 11 points at halftime, 33-22.  In the second half, the closest Colgate came was three points, 49-46, with 7:55 remaining in the game.

Colgate outrebounded the Cadets, 30-25, with Chones and Andrew Zidar grabbing nine apiece.

GAME NOTES:  Kendall Chones has seven straight games in double figures since moving into the starting lineup … After missing six straight games with a knee injury, Howard Blue played 13 minutes against the Cadets.  He had six points and three rebounds … Linebaugh finished with four 3-pointers.  He has scored a 3-pointer in 11 straight games … and Zidar moved over 300 career rebounds (301).
