In May, the University Chorus and Chamber Singers had the opportunity to perform the program for their spring concert in the places where the musical pieces would have originally been heard. During the nine-day tour, we held four concerts: in Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, and Budapest.

If you’ve walked into James C. Colgate Hall on a Monday afternoon, you might have heard unfamiliar yet intriguing musical sounds flowing out of classroom 209. That’s Colgate’s brand-new Balinese Gamelan Ensemble rehearsing; their concert is tonight.

French philosopher Pierre Hadot believes that an ancient philosopher wasn’t someone who wrote masterpieces, but who lived philosophy as a way of life. Likewise, Tracy K. Smith is a poet who lives a life of poetry. Her experiences, observations, and even her favorite singer have become her source of creation.

Fun fact: If you get a Colgate Day in February, you get another in March, too! The first Colgate Day of 2015 arrives this Friday, immediately followed by Valentine’s Day on Saturday.
