Water Main Update - Service Restored

Back to University Correspondence

Dear Campus Community,

Workers from the Village of Hamilton have restored water service following a break in the water main on Route 12B near 113 Broad Street.

While water now flows to all campus buildings, the Boil Water Notice issued by the village yesterday evening remains in effect. Bottled water or water boiled for at least one minute should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice. Please do not use drinking fountains and bottle-filling stations. Water need not be boiled for bathing or hand washing. This statement applies campuswide, whether or not your building lost service as a result of the line break.

Dining halls are in full operation. Throughout last night, campus safety and facilities staff distributed water, provided by Chartwells, to residence halls across campus. This work will continue until the notice is rescinded. I appreciate the work of all those who participated in making water deliveries — and your patience as we navigate this moment together.

As ever, I will provide further updates as they become available.

Many thanks,

Joseph Hernon
Associate Vice President for Emergency Management, Campus Safety, and Environmental Health and Safety
