Don’t Get Locked Out: Make Sure Your Duo Mobile App is Updated

Back to ITS Updates

If your Duo Mobile app is not updated to at least version 4.85.0 by March 31, it will no longer work. This means:

  • You will not receive Duo push notifications
  • The app will not generate login passcodes
  • You may be locked out of services that require Duo authentication, including the Portal and  Moodle

How do I check my Duo Mobile app version?

  1. Open the Duo Mobile app.
  2. Tap the three-line menu in the upper-left corner.
  3. Look at the version number at the bottom of the menu.
  • ✅ Version 4.85.0 or higher → No action needed
  • ❌ Below version 4.85.0 → Update required

How do I update the Duo Mobile app?

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Search for Duo Mobile.
  3. Tap Update
  • If you see Open, your app is already up to date.

Minimum supported phone operating systems

Duo Mobile also requires a supported operating system:

  • iOS: Duo will no longer support iOS 17 or older
  • Android: Duo will no longer support Android 11 or older

If your device cannot be updated to a supported OS, please contact the ITS service desk for options.

Security reminder

Never approve a Duo push you do not recognize.
The Duo Mobile app allows you to review the geographic location of each sign‑in attempt, and works anywhere you can connect to wifi.
