REVISED New Course Proposal Form effective: 1/1/2024

Back to Provost and Dean of the Faculty Announcements

Happy New Year!

For anyone intending to propose a new course to the Curriculum Committee, please read on. The New Course Proposal Form has been updated to reflect the changes to Colgate's Core Curriculum. The revised form is linked in this message and may also be found on the Curriculum Committee website. The only change in this 2024 form is the addition of one question asking for a rationale for any designated Liberal Arts Practice.*

New course proposals should be submitted using this Google form and are due Feb. 12, 2024.

Outdated forms tend to linger on hard drives and the internet, but they slow down the approval process. Thank you for your efforts to use the revised (2024) form.

Finally, in case you missed it, here is a list of exciting new courses approved by our committee last semester. We look forward to reading about your curricular ideas, energy, and inspiration for future courses.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at gfrank@colgate.edu.

Best wishes for the new semester,

Georgia Frank
Chair, Curriculum Committee

* The new question appears on p. 4 and is as follows:

4. Liberal Arts Practice rationale. Please identify which one or two Liberal Arts Practice(s) this course satisfies and provide a one-sentence explanation of how the proposed course will satisfy the expectations of this “tag.” For more information about Liberal Arts Practices, go to: https://catalog.colgate.edu/content.php?catoid=12&navoid=586
