It is time to prepare for the spring 2024 collection of electronic SET forms. SET form administration will take place from April 22 through May 3, 2024.

We are writing about the final exam period, end-of-semester assignments, and self-scheduled exams.

As I mentioned in my remarks at a recent faculty meeting, in consultation with colleagues across the provost/dean of the faculty division, I have been reviewing the structures and processes involved in many of the academic-adjacent areas of the division.

I write to solicit nominations for the Jerome Balmuth Award for Teaching. This award, endowed by Mark Siegel ’73, is named for the late Jerry Balmuth, Harry Emerson Fosdick Professor of philosophy and religion emeritus.

Course warning rosters are available for your review and action. The sooner faculty post concerns about a student, the sooner the student's administrative dean and academic advisor can coordinate efforts to help that student achieve success.

I am pleased to announce the appointments of two new division directors: Yukari Hirata, Harrington and Shirley Drake Professor of Japanese and Linguistics, will lead the Division of Arts and Humanities (AHUM) and Rob Nemes, Charles A. Dana Professor of History, will lead the Division of Social Sciences (SOSC) beginning July 1, 2024.

In my role as ADoF, I have received a number of inquiries over the past several months regarding the timing for pre-tenure comprehensive review and tenure review. The goal of this memo is to make transparent the policies that may impact this timing, so that pre-tenure faculty and their mentors are better informed about their options.
