Glendening Boathouse

On the shores of Lake Moraine and just three miles from campus, our boathouse is the idyllic home for all your boating pursuits.
Glendening Boathouse is on nearby Lake Moraine.


The state-of-the-art facility is home to our rowing teams and features a recreational bay for use by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their guests at no charge.

You can borrow our canoes, kayaks, rowboat, paddle boat, Laser sailboats, AMF Pico sailboats, or a single rowing shell for an excursion on the lake. Please note, there is no picnicking or swimming allowed on or from the boathouse property.

Hours of Operation

Fall Hours through Wednesday, October 9:

Wednesdays     4:30-7 p.m.
* Saturdays       1-6 p.m.
Sundays            1-6 p.m.

* The Boathouse will be CLOSED for Homecoming on Saturday, September 21

** Open hours are weather pending! The facility will close in the event of impending or active thunder storms and persistent rain. If the facility is closed, the Equipment Cage in Huntington (315-228-7620) will be notified. During open hours, you can also call the boathouse at 315-824-0053 to see if the facility is open If no one answers and weather is good, call a few times as monitors may be by the shoreline and out of ear-shot of the telephone. 

Canoes, Pico sailboats, recreational kayaks, sea kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, a rowboat, and pedal boat are available to all Colgate personnel and their guests at no charge.

University ID will be needed in order to use the equipment. Additionally, a signed “Assumption of Risk/Release of Liability" statement will be required.
