Communications Office

The job of the Communications Office is to capture and share news about Colgate.

About the Office 

Led by Vice President Debra Townsend (315-228-7417), the office produces Colgate's print and electronic messages for internal and external audiences. We coordinate Colgate’s strategic communications and serve as the point of contact for news media. The communications team is available to help other offices and departments at Colgate define and refine their messages. The Colgate Scene

The Scene is our quarterly alumni magazine. Each issue includes full-length features relevant to the Colgate community, news and updates from campus, and class notes that keep our loyal alumni connected to their peers. Marketing and Public Relations

From unique courses that attract national media attention to students who co-publish peer-reviewed journal articles with their professors, the news and feature stories on our news page have attracted over 1 million visits since 2008. Our media relations team also works with journalists around the world who report on these stories.

We play a key role in official university publications, including the admission viewbook, fundraising materials, the ‘Gateline newsletter to alumni and parents, the Colgate calendar, and the university catalogue, among many more.
