About the Training Process
The full training experience is eight months of experiential lessons and weekly classes and seminars that bring you together with other highly engaged and diverse first-years and sophomores. Students who complete the training program are generally hired to our staff to teach
physical education classes, lead
Wilderness Adventure trips, and provide
group development opportunities for the Colgate community.
You will participate in hands-on trips to the Adirondacks and other destinations to strengthen technical skills, to instill a sense of risk assessment and management, to promote a passion for the natural world, and to develop teaching and leadership skills — regardless of experience level.
