Extracurricular Opportunities

Both the department and the German Club sponsor extracurricular opportunities focused on German language and culture. Some of the more regular opportunities are listed below. We look forward to seeing you!

Kaffeestunde

Thurdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Max Kade German Center, Lawrence Hall

Germans traditionally have "Kaffee and Kuchen" in the afternoon, so each Thursday at 3:30 pm we invite you stop by the Max Kade Center in Lawrence Hall (campus map) for a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and some cookies and cake.

German faculty also frequently attend, giving you the chance to talk to lots of different people, play games, talk about potential events, and more!

Friday Night Film Series

Spring 2013

All films are at 7 p.m. in Golden Auditorium, Little Hall. Free admission.

The following films from the series are of particular interest to German students this semester: Northern Skirts (February 1), The Danube Exodus (February 25) and Donau, Dunaj, Duna, Dunav, Dunarea (March 1)

Table of Babel

Tuesdays from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Alana Cultural Center

The Table of Babel gives you the opportunity to chat with others who are interested in German over lunch. The event, which brings both professors and interested students together, occurs every Tuesday during the semester from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the ALANA Cultural Center (campus map). Check the campus calendar for the next event.
