Hello, Colgate Community.
We used to prepare for a January return to campus by picking up a new scarf and recharging our Gate Cash. In this pandemic, it’s all about testing.
Anticipating your return, we began baseline testing of on-campus employees and winter break student residents last Tuesday, conducting 994 total PCR tests. This testing yielded four positive employees and no positives among on-campus student residents. We have also received 2,169 Let’s Get Checked student test results with 27 positive to-date.
Our hopes for a speedy recovery go out to all who have tested positive. Thank you for demonstrating an early commitment to community health by participating in this initial screening process and isolating until you’re healthy again. We look forward to seeing you as soon as possible.
Talk to you soon,
Laura H. Jack
Vice President for Communications
Take Note
Again this semester, Colgate will move through Gates of Reopening. The University has updated the Gates based on evaluation of fall 2020 experiences. Before you arrive on campus, read more about the revised Gates on the Colgate Together website.
Supervisors, please remember to check your employee dashboard in the portal each day to ensure that your direct reports have completed their daily health screenings. You will also be able to confirm the completion of our updated health education course and Commitment to Community Health. Thank you.
All students arriving at Colgate for the spring 2021 semester will immediately enter mandatory universal quarantine in their residences. The quarantine applies to all students studying on campus for the spring 2021 semester, including seniors living in privately owned off-campus housing. Visit the mandatory quarantine page regularly for updated information on what to expect — and what’s expected of you.
The Summer Reading Selection Committee invites you, as a member of the Colgate community, to submit suggestions for the 2021 summer reading. Last year, we received nominations for nearly 300 titles, ranging from graphic novels and collections of poetry to memoirs and self-help books. Make your nomination.
