Classics Facilities

As a student of the classics, you will be studying, learning, and researching in excellent spaces on the Colgate campus, consistently voted one of the nation’s most beautiful college campuses.

About the Facilities

The classics department's home is in Lawrence Hall, on Colgate's main academic quad (campus map). Classrooms throughout the building are used for instruction.

The W.H. Gifford Classics Center, located on the first floor of Lawrence Hall, is the premier room for instruction in the discipline. It houses the Classics Library, a vast collection of classical texts, and information on antiquity supplementing the materials in our main campus libraries.

Lawrence Hall also houses the Humanities Lounge and the W.M. Keck Humanities Resource Center. The lounge provides quiet study and small-group meeting space, while the Keck Center contains 26 workstations for language learning and other humanities applications.
