About Sociology and Anthropology We offer you the opportunity to pursue a degree in sociology or anthropology as a major or minor. We examine a very wide variety of subjects, including courses on archaeology, cultural anthropology, social inequality, media and popular culture, medicine, and many others. If you're interested in learning more about almost any aspect of human culture and society, we're prepared to help advise and instruct you along the way. While many of the students in our courses are working towards a major or a minor in the department, we also encourage students from outside the department to enroll with us for electives. The disciplines of sociology and anthropology lends itself well to the interdisciplinary culture in place at Colgate. Majoring in our sociology (SOCI) or anthropology (ANTH) programs, however, does provide you with an outstanding foundation. After graduation from Colgate, you will have many options for careers or to pursue graduate study in fields such as communications, law, business management, public administration, teaching, journalism, or social work.
