Off-Campus Study in Biology

If you are interested in pursuing a major in biology, you do not have to sacrifice the opportunity to study off campus or abroad. Check out some of these great opportunities designed specifically with the needs of science students like you in mind.

Colgate Semester Programs

Our off-campus study office offers full-semester off-campus study opportunities all over the world. In these programs you will travel, live, and study with your Colgate classmates and a Colgate faculty adviser whilst simultaneously immersing yourself in the culture of your temporary home.

The following semester programs are designed specifically to accommodate the interests and scheduling needs of students in the sciences:

Extended Study Programs

Some biology courses include an Extended Study opportunity in which course participants continue the class off-campus for two or three weeks at the conclusion of the semester. Check out the current extended study opportunities from all departments.

Montana Summer Program

This program is at Flathead Lake Biological Station in northwestern Montana and is open to any Colgate student. We send a group in alternate summers and students take field-oriented biology courses as part of the summer program at the biological station.

Field trips for courses take students to Glacier National Park, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Great Bear, and Mission Mountain wilderness areas, as well as many different national forest areas in western Montana.
