Colgate students interested in making a difference locally, nationally, or globally are supported by a number of programs that allow them to engage in social impact work, innovative projects, and research.

Clinton Global Initiative University

The Clinton Global Initiative University Network seeks students who are motivated to make a positive change in the areas of education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. Students participate in a year-round program that includes mentorship, a social impact curriculum, funding, and events. They also have access to dedicated funds at Colgate for CGI-U participants.

Application rounds for CGI-U happen in the fall and spring.

Thought Into Action

Non-profits and social enterprises participate in Thought Into Action programs every year. For students looking to start an organization, the year-long TIA Incubator provides a launchpad that enable teams to take initial steps. The full-time summer accelerator can help propel existing non-profits and social enterprises to the next level.

Upstate Institute Field School

Through Colgate's Upstate Institute, Summer Field School Fellows work with a community, government, or non-profit partners to create and complete projects that will have a positive impact on the Upstate region. As a Field School Fellow, students are responsible for building relationships in the local community while completing independent research work on innovative projects that provide a community benefit.
