Commencement Accessibility and Handicap Parking Skip Navigation

The Colgate University graduating class of 2014 meet with family and friends, and pose for photographs on the academic quad.

Handicapped parking is located in the Alumni Lot for chapel events, the Library Lot for the torchlight ceremony, and near Reid Athletic Center for the commencement ceremony. If you need special drop-off arrangements, please see a campus safety officer for assistance. Please view the commencement weekend parking map for more details. For safety reasons, we ask that there are no drop-offs on Broad Street (NY State Hwy 12B).

To help familiarize guests with the commencement site, please view the Sanford Field House seating map.

Additional Viewing Facilities (No Ticket Required)

Due to limited seating in Sanford Field House, we are providing additional seating with closed-circuit access to the ceremony at Golden Auditorium in Little Hall, which is wheelchair accessible. This room will be open at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 21.

Wheelchair Availability

A list of wheelchair rental companies is available. Pick up and drop off of wheelchairs should be arranged directly with the rental company. We will have a wheelchair available that can be used for transportation to seats.

ASL Interpreter

There will be signers at the baccalaureate service and commencement ceremony. If you or a guest will need an ASL interpreter, please contact the dean’s office by May 8 at 315-228-7425 to reserve a seat in the designated area.

Accessible Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are located at the commencement site and at Memorial Chapel. Additional facilities can be found at James C. Colgate Student Union and Little Hall. Please view the campus map for more details.

Closed Captioning

Reading devices will be available in Sanford Field House during the commencement ceremony on Sunday. Please see an usher for assistance in obtaining one for use during the ceremony.

Departmental Receptions

Receptions are organized by individual departments; questions regarding accessibility should be directed to the particular department chair or program director. If you have any other questions or concerns related to accessibility, please contact campus safety at 315-228-7333.
