July 18, 2021 — This Week’s New-Student Digest

Back to Messages to New Students
Students cheering on arrival day.

In 35 days you’ll be arriving in Hamilton, N.Y., and we can’t wait to see you! There are several important things you need to check off your to-do list before you join us on the hill. We are highlighting just a few items today, but make sure you don’t miss anything on your checklist.

We have implemented a number of educational programs to help you make safe, healthy, and informed decisions outside of the classroom. All incoming first-year and transfer students are required to complete these two courses online before August 13. You will receive an email from EverFi on Monday, July 19, at 8 a.m. EST with your specific account information.

AlcoholEdu uses science-based research and evidence-based interactive strategies, including personalized feedback, to educate students about alcohol and its effects.

Sexual Assault Prevention Undergraduate
Sexual Assault Prevention uses a non-opinionated tone and style to provide important prevention skills and strategies to all students around issues associated with sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking.

REMINDER: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Module Post-Assessment Form
During the last few weeks, you were introduced to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Moodle Modules. These modules lay the foundation and provide a framework around DEI at Colgate. We will be engaging in these topics throughout orientation when you arrive in August. Please review the content, read the articles, participate in the activities, and view the videos to prepare for thoughtful discussion. At the end of the DEI Learning Continues module, there is a post-assessment form — please complete this form when you have finished both modules.

Colgate University Attestation Regarding Prohibition of Hazing
Colgate University seeks to promote an environment in which students are able to study and participate in clubs, organizations, and activities without compromising their health, safety, and wellbeing. Hazing, in any form, compromises a student’s safety and wellbeing and is contradictory to Colgate’s mission and values. Hazing is prohibited by both Colgate University and New York State.

COVID-19 Vaccine (PAST DUE)
Proof of vaccination or documentation of medical or religious exemption must be submitted via the myColgateHealth Patient Portal or as detailed on the Student Health Services website.

Student Health Services
New incoming students must complete medical and immunization forms.

The Moodle courses were awesome to complete before coming on campus because they showed me how important diversity, equity, and inclusion are here, and they allowed me to participate more effectively in the many discussions we had during orientation.
