During Mandatory Universal Arrival Quarantine

Students Living On Campus

To support students during the quarantine period, Colgate Dining Services will deliver prior to move in a care package of water and snacks to each student participating in meal deliveries, including those living in University apartments and Broad Street houses. Colgate Dining Services will then offer three delivered meals per day, seven days a week:

  • Continental breakfast
  • Cold or shelf-stable lunch
  • Hot dinner

While we will continue to accommodate dietary restrictions, including vegetarianism and veganism, we will not be able to customize meals or portion sizes due to the logistical challenges of delivering individually packaged meals to the entire campus. To supplement these meals, we strongly encourage students to bring plenty of their favorite snacks and beverages for this period.

While some students will have access to shared refrigerators, we also strongly encourage students to bring their own mini-refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers, both to reduce the use of shared appliances and to increase the variety of options available to them. In particular, please note that we will not be able to provide regular coffee service due to the difficulty of transporting individual hot containers, although we will include instant coffee in the care packages.

At the conclusion of this two-week period, we look forward to inviting students to our enhanced dining venues. We’ve newly renovated Frank Dining Hall and made changes in all of our venues to promote health and safety and to enhance the student dining experience. There will be increased hours at Donovan’s Pub. There will be additional grab-and go options in both Frank Dining Hall and the O’Connor Campus Center.

Students whose residences have common kitchens must wear a face covering when in these spaces.

As family unit members, students can cook together but because of the need to remove face coverings, must eat in their rooms.

Since the premier plan is required for all students living in traditional residence halls, these students will receive daily meal deliveries.

These students will receive daily meal deliveries unless they choose to opt out of the service. Students who are not on a meal plan will be charged for the meals. Students who choose not to receive daily meal deliveries should bring sufficient groceries with them until grocery delivery services can begin.

Please note that the executive order from Governor Cuomo prohibits anyone from a travel advisory state to arrive in New York State and then enter a grocery — or any other — store. While students from non-advisory states would be permitted to grocery shop upon arrival in Hamilton, students will not be permitted to leave their residence for in-store grocery shopping once they have entered the universal quarantine because, in many cases, students from non-advisory states are cohabitating with roommates from advisory states. Students will instead be able to order groceries during this period and have them delivered.

If you are a member of a fraternity or sorority but do not live in the chapter house, you will not be able to eat at the chapter house during quarantine, nor will the chapter be able to deliver meals to you. You should consult with your chapter house leadership regarding any potential meal plan refunds. Refer to the section describing your housing situation for information on your options for meal deliveries.

Seniors Living in Privately-Owned Off-Campus Housing

Due to many logistical concerns, Colgate will not deliver meals to students in privately owned off-campus housing. See below for grocery delivery information.
