Updates to Campus Services and Facilities

Back to Updates & Messages: COVID-19

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

Based on the latest guidance from state and national agencies, the University is announcing new updates to campus services and facilities hours, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Several of these new steps are in response to an announcement by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo today limiting gatherings to fewer than 50 people, closing gyms and movie theaters, and directing all restaurants to move strictly to take-out.

Libraries

Case-Geyer Library’s third floor circulation desk will remain open to the Colgate community for book retrieval, but the building will be closed as a study and meeting space. The library will also not be open to the public during this time. Cooley Science Library will be closed. Library staff will continue to move as necessary throughout these buildings to retrieve materials for students, faculty, and staff. The ITS Helpdesk will also continue to provide technology material as well as address support on an appointment basis.

Dining

Colgate Dining Services will be transitioning to a grab-and-go meal format starting at brunch tomorrow until further notice. Meals are limited to one box per student. In order to meet the newly-adopted state limit on gatherings, dining services must limit the number of students in the dining hall at any given time.

Athletic Facilities

All athletic facilities will be closed until further notice. This includes Reid Athletic Center, Huntington Gymnasium, Trudy Fitness Center, Lineberry Pool, Base Camp, Sanford Fieldhouse, and the Class of 1965 Arena.

Colgate Cruiser

Starting on March 23, the Cruiser will move to on-demand service from
10 a.m.–noon and 2 p.m.–6 p.m. daily.

To request a pick-up, call 315-269-4587.

Moving Out

We continue to encourage students with plans to leave campus to do so as soon as safely possible. Students who have plans to remain on campus, and who haven’t yet requested to stay in University-owned housing, must do so by Wednesday March 18 at 12 p.m. For public health planning purposes, students who plan to remain in privately owned off-campus housing in the Village of Hamilton should also register here. The constantly evolving national response to COVID-19 has sent ripples through the travel industry, and we want our students to depart as soon as possible to avoid potential travel delays and complications.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services remain open this week, Monday, March 16–Friday, March, 20 between 9 a.m.–1 p.m., by appointment only, and also between 1 p.m.–5 p.m. by phone.

If at any point now, during, or following spring recess you experience symptoms consistent with COVID-19, have been in contact with a person with COVID-19, or are in need of medical attention, please call Student Health Services at 315-228-7750, before visiting in person. Calling first will allow appropriate precautions to be taken by the Student Health Services staff.

Colgate.edu/COVID19 is being regularly updated as new information becomes available. Please email covid19@colgate.edu if you have a question that is not addressed online. Every email received at this address is being reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate office/department.
