Action Items for the Spring Semester

Back to Updates & Messages: COVID-19

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We write today to share information and action items regarding the spring 2021 semester for all faculty and staff. Preparations for the return of our students and for the universal quarantine are well underway as we all work together to support a successful spring semester.

Colgate will once again be conducting broad surveillance testing of faculty and staff prior to student arrival. Testing dates for all employees who are or will be working on campus are Jan. 12 and 13 in the Hall of Presidents, regardless of whether you recently participated in surveillance testing this week.

Health Education

All employees — whether working remotely or on campus — must complete the updated health education course by Jan. 15. You must be logged into your Colgate Gmail account when you take the course, which should take no longer than 40 minutes to complete. You are not required to complete the course all at once; you may pause and resume at any time.

Complete the health education course:

Spring Commitment to Community Health

All Colgate employees — whether working remotely or on campus — must also sign the updated Commitment to Community Health by Jan. 15.

Sign the commitment

The health education course and Commitment to Community Health may also be found on the portal.

Guidance on Community Health Compliance

Faculty and staff, as employees and supervisors, take on responsibilities under the Commitment to Community Health. Visit the Colgate Together website to read more about compliance with the commitment and consequences associated with noncompliance.

A Note on Vaccines

As vaccinations are now being rolled out across the country, Colgate is working with state and local public health agencies to plan for eventual distribution of the vaccines as they become available. Additional information about vaccine distribution will be shared with the community as plans solidify.

Reminder: Faculty and Staff Town Hall - Jan. 7

President Casey and other senior administrators will discuss Colgate's reopening plans for the spring semester.  Questions may be submitted in advance using this form

Health Screening

All faculty and staff must continue to follow previously established guidelines for daily health screening when working on campus. Each and every day working on campus, either prior to or immediately upon arrival, employees are asked to fill out a brief, confidential health survey and must log the days when they are working on campus.

Employees with questions about this guidance, the health education, and the Commitment to Community Health may email humres@colgate.edu.

Thank You

The Colgate community did a remarkable job in the fall upholding the Commitment to Community Health and creating a safe and welcoming place for all to live and learn, even if it was like no other semester. It is our hope that everything that our community learned last semester will help to create an even more dynamic spring semester filled with research, discovery, and joy.

Sincerely,
