A variety of trips are offered over both winter and spring breaks. These trips engage students in community service and deepen student's understanding of pertinent social issues through interaction, collaboration, and experiential learning.

First Year Orientation - Outreach
Outreach offers incoming students an opportunity to meet new classmates while learning more about central New York by working on service projects in the region. During Outreach, students have the opportunity to work with local non-profit organizations doing important work in the Hamilton and Utica communities while meeting like-minded students.

Salvage
Through student donations at the end of the academic year, the salvage program donates more than $30,000 worth of items to local non-profits. Organizations receive much-needed supplies to furnish transitional housing, provide warm clothing, bedding and educational materials, and stock the food pantry shelves for our neighbors. READ MORE
Service Learning
The COVE and the Upstate Institute, in partnership with the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, offer course development grants to support Colgate faculty with teaching interests that involve community engagement. These grants include a faculty stipend as well as support for course-related expenses to develop a new or revised course that engages students in community outreach and fits the objectives outlined in the grant proposal.
