Past Events of Note January 2013 — Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Astrophysicist Neil Tyson did a variety of activities during his visit to Colgate ranging from giving a lecture in the memorial chapel, reviewing student’s thesis work to spending more than an hour taking student’s questions, and giving career advice in ALANA.
January 2013 — Bob Fullilove ’66
Colgate alumni Robert Fullilove is the associate dean of Community and Minority Affairs and professor at the school of Mailman Public Health of Columbia University. He held a lecture and discussion on “recalling Dr. King and his Vision for the Future” followed by a Q&A with students.
April 2008 — Tenzin Gyatso — Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama is the head monk of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. He has been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, honorary degrees from multiple institutions, Congressional Gold Medal for his impact on American history and culture and many more prestigious awards. The Dalai Lama came to Colgate to offer words of wisdom about achieving happiness.
January 2008 — Benjamin Jealous
Former NAACP president is a civil and human rights leaders and was keynote speaker for MLK week giving a lecture on “The Rise, Fall and Rise of Great Social Movements.”
