The Explore workshop was designed as a service for the Colgate alumni community. Rising high school juniors and seniors — who are children and/or grandchildren of Colgate alumni — are invited to spend a couple of days here in Hamilton to learn about the college search and selection process.
The workshop is broad-based and covers the selective college admission process generally (not Colgate admission specifically). The program takes place in the summer, and details and pricing become available in the spring.
Explore Workshop Program Details
Parents and students will be advised on the basics of the college admission process. Colgate staff members will lead various sessions on topics that include:
- guidelines for researching colleges
- how to prepare for a campus visit
- tips for completing your application
- an in-depth look at the selection process
- a mock-application review
Program Fees and Accommodations
Fees cover all sessions and meals; therefore, the cost for parent and student is the same.
Registration with on-campus housing
Overnight accommodations provided in Drake Hall; sheets, pillow, blanket, towels, and wifi included. Parties will be housed together (standard is two per room) unless requested otherwise. Please note your rooming preferences during registration.
Registration without housing
Registrants will be responsible for securing their own accommodations. It is advisable to confirm your accommodations before registering for the Explore program to ensure availability.
