E-mail Verification

The Colgate Alumni App for iPhone and Android uses e-mail verification and is limited to use by confirmed alumni. If your e-mail address is not recognized, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at or call 315-228-7439.

How do I log in?
You will need to enter your e-mail address and your name and credentials will be verified in order to gain access. You will then receive an e-mail with further instructions. If your e-mail is address is not accepted, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations to reconcile your e-mail address. If your e-mail is recognized but you do not receive an e-mail in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder. Note: After initially logging in, your information will be saved and you will not be required to log in for 30 days.
Why do I need a 4-digit PIN?
Colgate believes that this additional security step will protect alumni data should an alum's phone be stolen. You will need to enter your 4-digit PIN every time you access the app. If you already have a 4-digit PIN to unlock your phone, you can set it to be the same.
What personal information will be available for alumni to see?
The information in the alumni mobile directory is identical to the information in the desktop alumni directory and will respect the same permissions you set in your online profile. If you have hidden your personal information it will not be displayed to alumni.
Can I edit or hide my personal information displayed in the app?
To hide all your information or particular categories of your information, please contact or call 315-228-7439. Your name, class year and major will always appear to all authenticated users.
Can I update my profile information directly in the mobile app?
Yes. Click “Update My Profile” at the bottom of your record with the requested changes that  will be forwarded to our office. To protect the integrity of the alumni database, you cannot directly change contact information in the mobile app in real time. Once the updated information is received, the alumni office will update your profile. To suggest an update for a classmate click the “Suggest an Update” button at the bottom of their profile.
When using the "Nearby" tool with the map, how do I locate alums in another location outside of my current location?
Click the magnifying glass in the bottom of the map. This will allow you to enter a specific town, state, country, or address to search. Zoom out by pinching two fingers together on the screen and then trail one finger to the desired area on the map. A pin will display representing the location of alumni.
Is the location information real-time?
No. The location information is based on home and employment address information in the alumni directory.
When using the map, how do I know who is in the area and in my class?
Click the list button in the upper right-hand corner. This will generate a list of the alumni in the area, sorted by year.
Using the directory: Can I search for a list of my classmates?
Yes, simply enter your class year in the search field of the directory. Deceased classmates are not displayed.
Can I e-mail or call another alum directly from the app?
Yes. While in the directory, tap the e-mail address of the alum you wish to contact and your e-mail provider will generate a message. If you click the phone number, your phone will begin to dial the number.
How do I connect the app with my LinkedIn account?
The latest update of the app enables all alumni to directly connect and professionally network using LinkedIn. When using the mobile app, you are able to connect your personal LinkedIn account with the directory by clicking the yellow “Login to LinkedIn for enhanced profiles” button. Once you are logged in, you can view information that alums have chosen to include on their personal LinkedIn profiles along with the number of connections you have in common. You can directly connect with other Colgate alumni by clicking the yellow LinkedIn button to add or invite alums to LinkedIn. Any information that is provided by LinkedIn will appear on the profile screen with the LinkedIn icon to the right. Don’t forget to list Colgate in your education information and to connect with our Colgate LinkedIn Group.
Why can't I connect the app with my Facebook account?
At this point, Colgate has chosen not to allow users to connect with their Facebook account due to privacy concerns.
How can I see events in my area?
Click the events icon. The alumni events calendar will display.
Options for opting out of the mobile directory

If you would like to edit what information others see about you please use the "suggest an update" button on the application. Alumni can also e-mail with any directory requests or edits.

Available visibility options are:
  1. Hide your home information
  2. Hide your business information
  3. Hide your preferred e-mail
  4. Hide your preferred phone number
  5. Hide all your information
